|Indication||Control of gastrointestinal worms in cats including roundworms ( Toxocara cati and Toxascaris leonina ), hookworms ( Ancylostoma tubaeforme, A. caninum, A. braziliense and Uncinaria stenocephala ), and tapeworms ( Dipylidium caninum and Taenia taeniaeformis ). Does not control lungworm.|
|Actions||Praziquantel destroys the tapeworm's ability to defend itself from the cat's digestive enzymes and immune system. It appears to interfere with the musculature of the worm's scolex, resulting in the parasite losing its ability to attach to the gut wall. Pyrantel (as embonate) interferes with the parasite's nervous system, resulting in the worms passing through the animal's digestive system.|
