Musca-Ban Spray 125mL
Musca-Ban is a ready-to-use spray-on fly and mosquito insecticide for use on horses, dogs, cattle and pigs. It is also provides effective control of fleas and lice on dogs and cats.
Musca-Ban has dual action on insect pests; it contains natural pyrethrins to kill the insect pests and citronella oil to repel them. The formulation also contains synergists to enhance the insecticidal activity of Musca-Ban.
The oil based formulation allows the formulation to adhere better to the animal for improved efficacy.
Designed for daily application to use when flies and mosquitoes become a nuisance during the warmer months.
Directions for Use:
|Indication||Repels flies and mosquitoes on horses, dogs, cattle and pigs. Controls fleas and lice on dogs and cats.|
|Actions||Insecticide; insect repellent.Pharmacology Pyrethrins are organic esters which are the active insecticidal constituents of the Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium flower. They exert potent insecticidal and insect repellent actions and have a broad spectrum of activity. Pyrethrins are rapidly neurotoxic to several insect species including Stomoxys calcitrans, Musca domestica and Lucilia cuprina, all of which commonly infest wound sites. In contrast to their toxicity to insects, pyrethrins possess extremely low mammalian toxicity due to their lability in the gastrointestinal tract and rapid metabolism in the liver. They do not accumulate in mammalian tissue and are nonirritant to mammalian skin.Piperonyl butoxide is a pyrethrin synergist which inhibits the breakdown of pyrethrins by insect enzyme systems, thus prolonging the action of pyrethrins.N-octyl bicycloheptene dicarboximide (MGK 264) is an insecticide synergist which enhances the action of pyrethrins. It acts by inhibiting microsomal oxidation and preventing the insect from denaturing the pyrethrins. MGK 264, through absorption of ultraviolet light, stabilises pyrethrins which would otherwise be rapidly broken down in sunlight. The toxicity of N-octyl bicycloheptene dicarboximide to mammals is very low.Di-N-propyl isocinchomeronate (MGK 326) is a synthetic insect repellent with extremely low mammalian toxicity. MGK 326 acts to enhance the insect repellent properties of the pyrethrins. Clinical trials have demonstrated that MGK 326 is not present in the milk of cows sprayed with di-N-propyl isocinchomeronate.Citronella oil is an insect repellent obtained by distillation from members of the Gramineae family. Citronella oil has been shown to enhance the residual toxicity of pyrethrins to specific insect groups.|
