Protexin Paste 30g
Protexin can be used in a wide range of circumstances, either to improve the general health of animals, address specific problems or to maximise animals' performance.
Under general conditions Protexin can be used to :-
- Improve health naturally
- Stimulate appetite
- Aid in establishment of gut flora in immature animals like day old chicks, calves, piglets, lambs, foals, kids, puppies and kittens
- Maintain healthy gut microflora
- Re-establish gut microflora after antibiotic treatment
- Treat and control diarrhoea/scours; inhibit harmful pathogens like E.Coli, Salmonella and others
- Optimise digestion of feed
- Reduce digestive disturbances and upsets
- Reduce stress
Protexin is the most advanced multi - strain Probiotic in the world today.
Unlike many other Probiotics that consist primarily of a single strain of bacteria, Protexin consists of seven different naturally occuring bacteria and two yeasts. The effectiveness and synergy of these strains has been proven in years of trials and production application.
The uniqueness of Protexin is not just confined to its multi-strain formulation. Research and Development has produced a special "protection" to ensure the highest possible numbers of bacteria survive the journey through the hostile conditions of the crop or stomach, into the gut where they rapidly begin to work for the benefit of the animal. Protexin's introduction to Australia makes it the first and to date, the only nationally registered Probiotic approved for administration to animals and birds.
What is a Probiotic and how does it work?
The digestive system of all animals is home to literally billions of bacteria and yeasts referred to as Microflora.
Microflora are essential to the health of any animal; aiding the digestion, breaking down cellulose and other indigestible substances; helping the synthesis and absorption of vitamins and minerals; stimulating the immune system and preventing the proliferation of pathogens. (Pathogens reduce nutrient absorption, animal performance and cause disease).
Some of the Benefits of using Protexin include:
Improved Growth in Farm Animals
This is generally regarded as resulting from the suppression of a subclinical infection by a growth depressing micro-organism; such a mechanism has been described for antibiotic growth promotion.
Improved Utilisation of Food
Achieved by increasing the efficiency of the existing digestive processes and/or by promoting the digestion of previously indigestible substances.
Reduced Intestinal Dysfunction
This includes treatment and control of scouring or diarrhoea and the exclusion or suppression of pathogens E.Coli, Salmonella, and Aeromonas spp.
Generated by increasing resistance to infectious diseases either by direct antagonism or by stimulating immunity.
Establishment/Re-establishment of Microflora
For the establishment of healthy gut microflora in immature animals or the re-establishment of gut microflora following antibiotic use.
|Indication||An aid during intestinal dysfunction; treatment and control of scouring and diarrhoea; exclusion and suppression of pathogens such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella and Aeromonas sp; following antiobiotic therapy in all animals to re-establish gut microflora; improvement in weight gains and feed conversion in growing pigs and cattle; productivity improvements and reduced mortality in poultry; an aid in the establishment of gastrointestinal microflora in physiologically immature animals; periods of stress.|
|Actions||Live microbial feed supplement (probiotic). Improves intestinal microbial balance. Helps maintain a balanced digestive system, optimising digestion of feed and naturally enhancing health. Nontoxic and residue free.|
|Precautions||Avoid contact with eyes.Disposal Dispose of empty syringe by wrapping with paper and putting in garbage.|
|Dosage and Administration||Depress plunger into the mouth and ensure paste is administered on the rear of the tongue. Hold animal's head raised for a few seconds after dosing to ensure the paste is swallowed. Use a recommended dose at first signs of stress (i.e. stress associated with pregnancy, birth, weaning, transportation, loss of appetite, scouring, temperature extremes, medication, surgery, training and exercise). Dose once a day for a minimum of five days as follows. Horses. 10 to 20 g. Foals, ponies. 5 to 10 g. Cattle, sheep, goats, pigs. 2 to 4 g. Calves, lambs, kids, piglets. 1 to 2 g. Dogs, cats. 1 to 3 g, to 2 to 6 g. Puppies, kittens. 1 to 2 g.|
|Storage||Store below 25°C (air conditioning). Keep out of reach of children. Keep container tightly closed. If this product is stored under refrigerated conditions (less than 8°C), the stated expiry may be extended by twelve months.|
