|Drug Name and Strength||Phenylbutazone 200 mg/mL|
|Indication||Aid in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions and soft tissue injuries in horses where anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic activity would be beneficial.|
|Contraindications||Administration to horses with a history of cardiac, renal or hepatic disorders, or when gastrointestinal tract ulceration or blood dyscrasias are present or suspected.|
|Precautions||Discontinue therapy if signs of lethargy, colic, diarrhoea, inappetence, oral ulceration or vascular disorders resulting in ventral oedema occur during treatment. Foals or pony breeds may have a greater risk of toxicity than horses, and care should be taken to adhere to the recommended dose rates in these animals. Therapy in ponies should be discontinued if no response is seen after four to five days of treatment.|
|Dosage and Administration||Administer paste orally 30 minutes prior to feeding. Horses (450 kg). 10 mL (phenylbutazone 2 g) twice on first day, then 5 mL (phenylbutazone 1 g) twice daily for four days, then 5 mL (phenylbutazone 1 g) daily or every second day as required or as directed by a vet. Ponies (225 kg). 5 mL (phenylbutazone 1 g) daily for four days, then 2.5 mL (phenylbutazone 0.5 g) daily or every second day as required or as directed by a vet.|
|Storage||Protect from light. Store below 30°C (room temperature).|
