More Information
Drug Name and Strength Live attenuated feline herpes virus, live attenuated feline calicivirus, live attenuated feline parvovirus (panleukopaenia virus)
Quantity 25 Doses
Indication Vaccination of cats against feline rhinotracheitis, feline calicivirus and feline panleucopaenia. When reconstituted with Companion FeLV, additional protection against infection with feline leukaemia virus is also achieved.
Contraindications Do not administer to cats receiving corticosteroids or to pregnant queens.
Precautions Only healthy cats with normal temperatures should be vaccinated. Avoid using chemicals to disinfect the skin, needles or syringes before vaccination, as this could inactivate the viruses.Disposal Dispose of empty containers and outer packaging by wrapping in paper and putting in garbage. Discarded vials should immediately be placed in a designated and appropriately labelled biologicals container. If this option is not available, bury the vial/container below 500 mm in a disposal pit specifically marked and set up for this purpose clear of waterways, desirable vegetation and roots. Discarded needles should immediately be placed in a labelled sharps container.
Dosage and Administration Use immediately after reconstitution with 1 mL of a suitable diluent (i.e. Water for Injections BP or Companion FeLV) transferred aseptically. Note : the removable label should only be removed after the dose has been given. If Companion FeLV is used as a diluent, two vaccinations ensure the complete course for protection against feline leukaemia. The interval between FeLV doses must not exceed four weeks, i.e. it must not be used for the first and last Companion F3 doses.Recommended vaccination program. Under normal circumstances. Primary vaccination in cats over 12 weeks of age: inject subcutaneously or intramuscularly two doses of vaccine at an interval of one month. Primary vaccination in kittens from 8 to 12 weeks of age: inject subcutaneously or intramuscularly three doses of vaccine at an interval of one month.Due to the interference of maternal antibodies with active immunisation, protection of young kittens can be difficult, especially in infected catteries. Epidemiological conditions and likely persistence of maternal antibodies (e.g. antibody titres of the mother, age of weaning) can thus influence the individual response of any given kitten. Under severe infectious risk. Primary vaccination in kittens up to 16 weeks of age: administer a dose of vaccine at two to three week intervals. Companion FeLV can be used as the diluent and it must be given twice from 9 weeks of age for a complete course. The interval between doses must not exceed three weeks. Revaccination. This product has been assessed as providing at least 12 months' protection. Many factors influence the effectiveness of vaccination and the need for revaccination. The vaccination program for an individual animal should be determined within a veterinarian-client-animal relationship, taking all these factors into account. An annual booster for protection against leukaemia virus is recommended. Companion FeLV can be used as the diluent for vaccine boosters.
