|Drug Name and Strength||Tylosin (as tartrate) minimum 800 mg/g|
|Indication||Poultry. Aid in the prevention and treatment of chronic respiratory disease in broilers and replacement chickens; infectious sinusitis in turkeys. Pigs. Swine dysentery in pigs. Prevention and control of ileitis associated with susceptible strains of Lawsonia intracelluraris in pigs.|
|Contraindications||Administration to laying birds.|
|Actions||Macrolide antibiotic active against Mycoplasma sp. and mainly Gram-positive bacteria.|
|Dosage and Administration||Add at the rate of 100 g to 5 L water and dissolve thoroughly. Further dilute as recommended below. Prepare a fresh solution every three days.Pigs. Swine dysentery. Further dilute concentrated solution to provide 400 L of medicated drinking water, and treat for three to ten days. Continue treatment for 24 hours after symptoms subside. Ileitis. Further dilute the concentrated solution to provide 1,600 or 800 L of medicated drinking water (i.e. tylosin 53 or 100 mg/L). This dilution provides a dose rate of 5.3 to 10 mg/kg bodyweight/day for pigs drinking water equivalent to 10% of their liveweight each day. Medicated water should be provided as the sole source of drinking water for seven days.Chickens, turkeys. Further dilute concentrated solution to provide 200 L of medicated drinking water. Provide as the only source of drinking water. Chickens. Preventive treatment: treat for the first three days of life; repeat treatment for one day at 3 to 4 weeks of age or to coincide with live virus vaccine or other stress. Therapeutic treatment: treat for three to six days depending on the severity of infection. Turkeys. Treat for two to five days depending on the severity of infection.|
